Candied pecan nuts

Candied nuts are great and defiantly not only for the wintery Christmas time period. Delicious to eat just like this, candied or spiced nuts make a heavenly cookie seasoning or luscious cake decoration too. At least if they last that long!

When ever I buy organic lime, lemon or oranges. I skim of the zest with a vegetable peeler and let them dry in my dehydrator or oven on a low 40 degrees celsius temperature overnight. Collect them when fully dry in a jar with a lit and I store them in a dry dark spot only to be ground into a fine delightfully tasting dust when needed. Exactly like I did in this nut treat candy recipe.

What I like most of this way of getting your citrus taste into food: it’s a very efficient way of zero waste by using up all the good nature gives us.

Orange and thyme candied pecan nuts, as delightful as they are to snack away straight like this (by the way did I tell you already these make a lovely gift to bring along any visit..) as exquisite they taste on top of a raw chocolate mouse cake.

Best of it all: it is so simple anybody can do this. 100% guaranteed
